The Applications Engineer supports sales, engineering, and end-users by providing technical expertise in abrasive air blast processes, equipment selection, and surface preparation requirements. This role evaluates customer applications, recommends appropriate blasting media, equipment, and process parameters, and ensures proposed solutions meet surface requirements, production targets, and the customers’ the Job to Be Done (JTBD). The Applications Engineer clearly communicate recommendations through proposals and general arrangement (GA) drawings, including presentations when needed. This position serves as a subject-matter expert for both manual and automated blasting systems, supporting projects from concept through commissioning.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
3+ years’ experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Ability to read technical specifications
Experience writing compelling proposals, and estimating costs for custom engineered equipment solutions
Excellent critical thinking skills, and ability to analyze information from multiple sources.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and technical communication
Understanding of Clemco/abrasive blasting products and surface preparation (preferred)
Communicating with employees and customers (speaking and listening)
Sitting for extended periods
Ability to learn, comprehend, and retain instructions
Ability to maintain focus for extended periods of time
Written communication with Distributors and customers
Participation in meetings with Clemco and customer teams during opportunity management

Senior Controls Engineer

Design specialized industrial blasting equipment using tomorrow’s advanced mechanical concepts and controls technologies
Use the latest Rockwell Software, programming Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs
Create modular and scalable electrical hardware, mechanical sub-components, and software designs to increase time-to-market and drive standardization
Enjoy designing in 3D using AutoCAD Inventor and Vault design software
Independently manage work department metrics to increase capabilities, throughput, and design quality
Serve as the go-to person for the custom solutions team for controls and instrumentation knowledge
Integrate the electro-mechanical designs into the Syteline ERP system to architect not only what is being built, but how it gets built in our expansive and capable manufacturing facility
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (Conduct and facilitate root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation.)
Train our field service technicians on the controls/automation to ensure they are able to proficiently operate, startup, and maintain all Clemco equipment. Must be able to explain technical concepts to all levels of our internal organization
Willingness to learn advance mechanical competencies such as structural design, power transmission, finite-element analysis, and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA)
Consult with engineering/sales personnel to resolve unusual problem sets
Up to 10% domestic travel possible

BS in Engineering (Mechatronics, Automation and Controls, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical)
3+ years’ experience in both electrical and mechanical preferred
Allen-Bradley software including Connected Components Workbench, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Studio 5000 View Designer, Factorytalk View Studio. Familiarity with PlantPAx or Machine Builder Library a plus
Fanuc Robotics experience a plus
Kinetix 5500 dependent servo drive automation a plus
AutoDESK Inventor, Vault, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Excel, Etc.
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems a plus
Experience working with Industrial Equipment
Communication skills (MS Office Suite, CAD, ERP)

Component Assembler

Must be willing to work in other areas as customer demand and business needs required.
Continuous mental or visual attention required to maintain tolerances during assembly. Failure to maintain tolerances can result in lethal product failures.

Prepares, fabricates and welds various metal products, components, and structures. Works from patterns, blueprints, or other drawings from Engineering or customers using a variety of tools and machines to create metal parts or assemble components.
Must have sufficient experience in manufacturing to function independently with little supervision or have prior experience in Metal Fabrication or Welding.
Must be able to use Shop Trak proficiently within 30 days of hire if hired externally.
Must be able to consistently identify workmanship and quality defects that could impact next steps, distributors, shipping vendors, or end users.
Must understand and follow Clemco’s totem system and visual cues to prompt specific work steps within 30 days of selection for the role.
Operates hand tools and setups for metal fabrication work.
Operates laser cutter, drill press, saw, punch press, gasket maker, brake presses.
Consistently reads prints, work instructions, schematics, and drawings effectively.
Operates the nibbler effectively.
Rolls and bends metal by hand or using digital equipment.
Inspects own work for quality and safety related defects.
Actively follows all safety procedures, wears Clemco-provided PPE, and assists in keeping everyone safe by reminding others when they may forget to follow safety procedures.
Proactively works to gain knowledge of other departments, troubleshooting standard or project equipment from drawings or sketches with the mentoring and guidance of more senior or highly skilled technicians
Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements
Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities

Industrial painter using overhead painting system, airless spray equipment and paint rooms. Protective gear is provided by the company.
Knowledge of industrial paint using air and airless spray equipment.
Familiarity with paint viscosities and use of paint thinner to achieve the proper viscosity.
Knowledgeable about temperature and humidity effects on flash or dry time; able to compensate by selecting and using proper thinners.
Track record of demonstrating proper painting techniques to produce desired affects.
Ability to use basic powered and non-powered tools.
With initial training, must be able to read and interpret schematics, engineering assembly drawings and bills of material.

Paints tools, equipment and products for use in industrial abrasive blasting
Uses air spray equipment, overhead hanging systems for bigger and heavier parts, and works in a downdraft paint booth
Prepares products used for abrasive blasting and related processes for customer use
Reads gages, works with tools and measuring devices
Uses drawings, diagrams, schematics, work instructions and other work directions to guide daily assignments
Selects products and paint thinners for each product according to above instruction as well as verbal instruction from Lead or Supervisor
Uses paint thinner and other paint related products to ensure paint is smooth and free of blemish or defect
Uses math to read and set gauges, measure and mix paint products
Watches for quality and workmanship defects that could adversely impact customer experience
Cleans and maintains equipment in efficient working order, organizes tools and prepares for the following day’s work at the end of each shift
Washes and caulks parts to prepare them for painting
Prepares tools that help prepare surfaces for commercial grade finishes. Proper techniques for safety and cleaning are observed.

Quality Control Inspector

Inspects and tests components and products for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and testing equipment. Inspects products for conformity to customer’s specifications using measuring instruments. Visually examines product. Verifies dimensions of product using micrometers, gauges, tapes, and templates. Prepares reports.
Inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to production supervisor, lead or appropriate point of contact
Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work
Coordinates with Purchasing on vendor activity through Material Review Report (MRRs) or other reports as required
Inspects and reviews for disposition customer returns based on quality defects. Follows through to see that proper disposition is carried out and inventory is handled accordingly.
Prepares, fills out and distributes necessary reports (i.e. A3, data report, metrics, inspection records, etc.)
Inspects procedures of the entire production cycle to ensure they are efficient and comply with quality standards
Guides the production team about why quality control concerns, or test failures, occur and how to improve product excellence
Analyzes data for trends (Averages, Pareto analysis, etc.)
May attend seminars or other training to keep skills up to date
May work in other areas from time to time as assigned
Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements

Must have experience in Quality Inspection, Assurance or Control in a manufacturing environment to be considered as an external candidate.
Internal candidates who have at least three years’ experience in Welding, Cabinet Assembly or Component Assembly will also be considered.
Knowledge and use of normal tools including measuring devices (caliper, micrometer, pressure gauge, etc.) within 30 days of hire
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

We welcome resumes from students in enrolled in welding programs as well as experienced welders. Salary commensurate with experience. If in school, must be able to work days. We do not have a 2nd or 3rd shift at Clemco.
Apprentice level: students enrolled in a Welding course of study or who have done welding for 1 year or more are welcome to apply as Apprentice Welders.
Level I: prefer 3-5 years’ experience in MIG welding and machine setup for light gauge metals (16 gauge to 1/4”).
Skilled Welders: prefer 3-5 years’ experience in MIG welding and machine setup for light gauge metals (16 gauge to 1/4”).
Requires thorough knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints along with the ability to convert this knowledge to obtain an efficient product.
Must pass ASME certification in agreed upon time frame.
Experience in safely and efficiently operating a forklift and overhead crane may be required for some assignments.

Fits and welds fabricated metal parts to produce standard and/or special products.
Has full understanding of welding procedures regarding electrode size, current, arc length and voltage, travel speed and electrode angle.
Can set up and adjust welding equipment accordingly. Works with complicated engineering drawings.
May attend seminars or other training to keep skills up to date.
May work in other areas from time to time as assigned.
Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements.
Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities.
Demonstrates flexibility when asked to take on new things.
Requires the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of decimals and fractions.
Requires the use of standard measuring instruments normally required to set angles and dimensions within stated welding tolerances.
Requires some judgment to comply with instructions, follow prescribed methods and make minor decisions as to setups, operations and processes.
